A Taste of Dyslexia 2005

2024 Updating A Taste of Dyslexia

2024 Updating A Taste of Dyslexia explains why a video from 2005 is being made available again via the web.  Most of A Taste of Dyslexia is just as relevant today as when it was first recorded and sold.  There are just three topics worth commenting on to update the discussion: the definition of dyslexia; the expansion of dyslexia into specific learning difficulties (SpLDs); and the options for motivation.

Text equivalent of video

The usual intension on this website is to provide a text version of the video for people who prefer to read.  A Taste of Dyslexia is an invitation to try different activities that mimic dyslexia so a text version is not appropriate.  However, the video was sold with a  handout.  The handout has the definition of dyslexia from 2005.  The definition provided by SASC in 2024 can be found in paragraph Definition of Dyslexia under Updating A Taste of Dyslexia .

The video has seven chapters with the following timings:

Dyslexia and communication                          0.00.00

Mind exercise and reading                              0.17.57

Writing and spelling                                         0.33.39

Perception and reading comprehension      0.52.30

Writing                                                                1.02.08

Holistic thinking and movement                    1.12.53

To sum up                                                           1.29.38
